- caledonica de Naurois, 1978, breeds central mountains New Caledonia. Other extralimital populations known to occur in sw. Pacific, for example Vanuatu; but these as yet not properly defined. All of these and P. longirostris from se. Pacific (vagrant to our area; q.v.) and possibly P. pycrofti might best be treated as single superspecies complex.
Extralimital P. hypoleuca (n. Pacific) may be part of this complex.
